Invest an hour a week, invest in our collective future. Why mentor? There are many young people in the East Multnomah area in need of mentors! You can help inspire the next leaders, and to gain your own leadership skills. The connection and friendship gained is priceless. Mentoring is mutually beneficial. and many more reasons! We are looking for mentors over the age of 21 to mentor youth ages 6-12. The ask is 1 hour a week for a year, however many mentors end up staying longer. Family vacations and other unforeseeable circumstances come up so we can on occasion be flexible with time requests. Mentors spend the hour doing various activities such as park visits, coloring, photography, or sponsored activities with the Family Of Friends organization. We try and match our mentors with youth that have similar interests and passions. The feedback we get back from mentors is that there is much to be gained from the lifelong friendships that stem from these connections and that its not about the activity but the relationship. YOU can be a mentor and we strongly encourage LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC member of our community to become mentors because representation matters.
