Description
Join science communicator and educator Lishka Arata at Doran Beach in Sonoma County to learn a little bit about Point Blue's ocean conservation work and then take part in helping oceans by cleaning and documenting shoreline trash. You'll be taking part in the California Coastal Commission's 38th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day! Sonoma County Regional Parks is co-sponsoring the event and will provide trash collecting equipment and complimentary entry into the regional park for registrants of this event. What is Coastal Cleanup Day? California Coastal Cleanup is the third Saturday of September. The cleanup brings awareness to the marine litter problem and provides a community event for direct involvement. Join the movement for an environment where people and ecosystems can survive and thrive. Volunteer alongside your families, friends, coworkers, scout troops, school groups, and service clubs. Plan to spend a day outside connecting with your community to celebrate California! The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by the Ocean Conservancy. California Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event in the US and International Coastal Cleanup Day is the largest volunteer event on the planet! Learn more on the California Coastal Commission's website. Want to spend the whole day on the coast? Join Point Blue the morning of from 9:30am to 11:30am for the Fledglings Bird-A-Thon Walk along the Birdwalk Coastal Access Trail. Register and learn more about that event here.
