Village Music at 9th and Irving (www.villagemusicsf.com) is looking for two new Piano teachers for private lessons here at the studio, generally working with kids between the ages of 6-11. You may also have some adult students as well. There are at least 5-6 students available to start immediately, and the studio is getting new student requests almost daily now, so you would have at least 1-2 full afternoons of students to start immediately.
The studio is looking for teachers with the following qualifications:
-Enjoys working with kids between the ages of 6-11 years old, as well as comfortable dealing with parents. The teaching emphasis is on FUN and creativity, but still within a graded method, depending on the expectations of the student and parent. Experience is a huge plus.
-Formal musical training, and experience as a performer and piano player. A degree in Music Education or Performance is good, but not mandatory.
-GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS with parents and admin here at the studio. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining his/her schedule, and sometimes collecting the fee for the lessons.
-Available CONSISTENTLY at least one or two afternoons a week on THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS, and/or SUNDAYS (possibly Mondays too). Also, the teacher should be available occasionally to meet about the lessons, and to come to the recitals when your students perform. Recitals happen several times a year, but are not mandatory for students.
-Preferably, the teacher lives in SF, and within 5 miles of the studio. This is a part time job, and long term it works out well for people who live relatively close to the studio.
Pay is $45-50/hr, and once hired, the new teacher most likely would have at least 5-6 students immediately, and several more in the next month or two. Please respond by email only to Andrew Cohen at
with a resume and any other relevant information. Thanks!
