Gatekeepers can include anyone who is strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide (e.g., parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, caseworkers, police officers). This training is conducted by a Hope Network employee who is a certified QPR instructor. The process follows three steps: Question the individual's desire or intent regarding suicidePersuade the person to seek and accept help, and Refer the person to appropriate resourcesParticipants will learn: How to Question, Persuade, and Refer someone who may be suicidalHow to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicideThe common causes of suicidal behaviorThe warning signs of suicideHow to get help for someone in crisisAll participants receive a QPR E-Booklet and Resources upon completion of the trainingTraining Expectations: This class takes place in-person at Hope Network's Education Center (795 36th St. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49548) in Motivation Conference Room. Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early. If you join more than 10 minutes after the training start time, you will not receive credit for the course. *Our QPR certified trainers are also available to train on-site and virtually at various agencies, universities, etc. If this is an option you are interested in please contact [email protected].
