BROWN SKIN BRUNCHIN expands its network of cities, Long Island is one of them As a social group evolves into a lifestyle brand, Brown Skin Brunchin is extending its reach across the country and continues to be the go-to resource for women looking for new friends. In just a short amount of time, the group has gained a large following on social media, with more than 35k followers and 17k users of the app in a short period of time. "It's not just brunch, it's a sisterhood that we're building one community at a time," said Lillian Jackson, co-founder of Brown Skin Brunchin'.It provides brunch events at restaurants and other venues every month to create a space for women of color.The group was founded in 2018 by Lillian Jackson and Melissa Mason. As a result of their partnership, the first chapter was launched in Richmond, Virginia to promote sisterhood among Black women professionals. As of now, Brown Skin Brunchin' is available in 75 cities across the U.S., Canada, Grenada, and Jamaica. Likewise, the group has a large presence on Long Island, where a new chapter has grown to more than 300 members and just launched in April of this year under the leadership of Long Island Ambassador Michelle Mitchell. Seeing Long Island develop and grow organically through word-of-mouth makes me very happy. The Long Island team will receive a new member in September 2022 as Betty Bennafield will be focusing on Suffolk County and offering brunch experiences there. Following a large event, the brand co-hosted a brunch in July with Bronze Magazine at 75 Main in South Hamptons as part of ART & SOUL Hamptons and it became clear that we needed to host more brunches in the eastern section of the Island." - Michelle MitchellIt has been announced that the Long Island chapter of Brown Skin Brunchin' will be hosting its end of summer poolside brunch on August 20th, 2022. All seating for brunch has already sold out. "It's a sisterhood that we're building one community at a time," Jackson said. "So, no other woman has to have that alone feeling. There is a space for every woman to be able to come and get that cup full of sisterhood before you go back out in the world." As part of its social and professional networking activities, Brown Skin Brunchin' also offers monthly brunch events through an app. In addition to restaurant and business highlights, the app was created in 2021 to serve as a one stop shop for Brown Skin Brunchin' members - both current and future.
