Blue Ridge Preservation is looking to add to their Landscaping and Grounds crew. We are located on the campus of the Art of Living Retreat Center, a year-round retreat and residential housing community. This position is responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds throughout the campus and its buildings. The crewmember will be expected to assist with plants flowers, mowing, pulling weeds, repairing structures, and maintaining outside of buildings. The job is considered semi-skilled work in the maintenance, care, and modification of the entire campus grounds and landscapes. The Groundskeeper position includes the operation of electrically powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines, and the use of small hand and power tools or equipment in planting, cultivating, and trimming grounds and landscaping. Mow lawn either by hand or using a riding lawnmower. Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls. Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes. Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and others. Apply fertilizer to the ground to enhance growth. Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle ice down to keep people from falling. Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and other duties. Sweeping walkway of debris. Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger. Trim shrubs and pull weeds. Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping. Install lawn furniture. Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed. Install rock, cement, lighting, water, and furniture. Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer. delivers supplies, materials, and equipment as needed Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or the equivalent is required. Experience: At least two years of experience in groundskeeping is required. Effort: Requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, moving, carrying, pushing & pulling of over 50lbs. Work involves exposure to unusual elements and extreme temperatures. Must be able to commit to and pass a criminal background check. Reports To: Grounds Supervisor Pay: $13-$15 based upon experience. Benefits: Pay based on experience.
