Guitars for Migrants-Yuma, Arizona-- Los Algodones, Mexico

Jobs

Yuma AZ

Description

So I took my guitar to the migrant shelter and they played it. Such joy. I started a GiveSendGo campaign to purchase 3 guitars for the shelter. This way the temporary shelter will be able to provide a little comfort and the joy of music for the migrants. There is a 3 day limit at the shelter. Then they get shipped off to Mexicali, a bigger city, for services. Los Algodones is a Mexican town of about 6,000 people. The border crossing exits at Andrade, California. The working people here are really very sweet. The main industry is Medical tourism, retail, and brickmaking. I'm confident the guitars will get funded. The bigger picture is to start a nonprofit. I know the steps as I've done it before. But I also know I can't do it alone...that I need people smarter than me to help. Looking for Board members, perhaps from SCORE. 80% of the world lives on $500 a month or less. My passion is to help people even in little ways, like seeing them smile while playing a guitar. I miss Sacramento. I lived minutes from Garcia Park where I'd launch my Kayak in the river. The Nugget market was really nice. And riding my bicycle to my office in "the grid" along the levee was a great experience. One day I'd like to take my small-town Mexican wife to Capitol Park. For now, we're both in Mexico and very content. At this point I'm available to chat and if you respond I'll send my LinkedIn and other info after mutual sniff tests. Thanks for taking the time to read this and, please, don't flag.
