Diaper Drive

Description

Our organizations are joining forces to raise awareness of diaper needs and hope you will consider helping us with this endeavor. National Diaper Need Awareness Week runs from September 26, 2022, to October 2, 2022. Each September, Pennsylvania recognizes “Diaper Needs Awareness Month”, and our organizations are bringing this message home. Each of us represents resource centers in a geographic segment of York City, and we have an established foundation of clients. Our services are open to the public from across the City and York County. In PA, 22% of the 411,667 children under age 3 live under the federal poverty level. Another 21% of these children fall between 1-2 times the poverty level. This poverty number and diaper need correlation is even higher if you include adult incontinence. Nationally, 57% of parents experiencing diaper need who rely on childcare said they missed an average of four days of school or work in the past month because they didn't have diapers. The statistics are long and sad. Families in York need our help, but we can only meet these needs in part with your help. We are asking you to consider holding an employee-based diaper drive within your business or organization during the month of September. Then on Friday, September 30th, we invite you and your collection to join us for a press conference on the needs, and how you and your employees helped meet these needs. Past partners Stauffer’s Biscuit Company and the local chapter of the American Association of University Women have helped tremendously in recent years, and we are hoping to build upon this working model by adding you. Please reach out to or to advise us you will be collecting by August 29th. If you cannot hold a drive, we would ask that you consider referring your staff and customers to one of our offices to donate. Sincerely, The Movement Chrystal’s Place Salem Square Connects City of York Bureau of Health Healthy Moms/Healthy Babies In strong support: PA Representative Carol Hill-Evans, Union Evangelical Lutheran Church
