Description

We are looking for you! You: -Are a formally-trained jazz drummer (yay lessons! childhood was fun!) -Love lots of genres of music and pull from those varied influences to inform your style of playing -Especially love indie rock and listen to and enjoy bands such as: Alvvays, Mitski, Sharon Van Etten, Marika Hackman, Beach House, Whitney, Waxahatchee, Toth, Land of Talk, -Love jazz and enjoy: Chet Baker, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, Ella Fitzgerald -Love to write unconventional, dope drum parts that sit outside of your basic rock rhythms -Are in your 20s or 30s -Live in Portland -Can commit to a 1x week rehearsal in SE on Wednesday nights and/or Sunday afternoons -Are interested in writing your own parts and contributing to the song-writing process from the beginning (you are not a hired gun) -Want to be in a committed project whose short-term goals are: playing shows around the PNW and recording an album; whose long-term goals are: becoming small-scale famous and touring broadly (?!) Who we are: 4 semi-recent transplants to PDX via NYC/Chicago who love it here and are beginning a new indie rock band with jazz influences. We are looking for a drummer to join our project and fill out our lineup. We are specifically seeking a jazz drummer who has a multi-genre background to gel nicely with the rest of us who don't fit into a single genre box either. (many of us played jazz in the past, but to be clear this is an indie rock band!) If this sounds like you or piques your interest send us a line! BIPIC & women to the front! xoxo
