The Material Handler position is for someone interested in starting a career as an electrician who wants to gain exposure to residential, multi-family, and commercial electrical work. We are a small business located off 205 in Clackamas with jobsites throughout the greater Portland metro area and from Washington down to Salem. After six months in the Material Handler role, the Material Handler will have the opportunity to be considered for the next open apprentice position. Duties and Responsibilities: -Deliver from warehouse in Clackamas to jobsites in the greater Portland metro-area with personal or company-owned vehicle (subject to availability) -Load and unload material and tools -General jobsite and warehouse clean-up -Assist journeymen electricians with non-electrical work -Assist with material inventory management -Assist with tool inventory and maintenance -Assist with company vehicle maintenance -Maintain outside grounds at warehouse -Use personal protective equipment and maintain safe working environment -Follow company, jobsite, OSHA and BOLI guidelines and policies -Other duties as assigned Competencies: -Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions -Ability to inspect and verify accuracy of materials being transported and/or delivered to jobsites -Ability to efficiently navigate to jobsites with a mobile GPS app that uses updated traffic data -Accurately record time worked and mileage data daily -Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks and asking timely and appropriate questions -Proactive in taking on tasks and identifying opportunities to improve -Professional communication with coworkers, customers, vendors, and other work crews -Ability to problem solve when issues arise, and seek assistance when required -Sound judgment and decision making Basic Requirements: -Available to work 35-40+hrs/week, generally between 6am-4pm, Monday-Friday -Age 18 years or older with current and valid driver's license -Able to provide documents to prove legal work status in the US -Must have clean driving record and pass pre-employment background check and drug screen -Must have use of reliable and self-insured vehicle capable of hauling material and equipment of various sizes, including ladders up to 10ft -Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments and remain standing for 90% of work -Ability to lift up to 100lbs occasionally and up to 50lbs on a regular basis Benefits/Compensation: -$16-$18/hr DOE -Travel reimbursement per mile driven in personal vehicle -Paid time off accrues hourly as of hire date and can start being used after 90 days of employment -Qualify for Company health/dental/vision/life insurance after 90 days of employment -Qualify for Company 401(k) with employer matching after 1 year and 1,000hrs of employment -Work hours have some flexibility -Logo wear and safety gear provided -Exposure to residential, multi-family and commercial electrical construction work Please reply to this job posting with a summary of your work/other experience, contact information, and your availability for a phone call to learn more.
