The Selah Downtown Association in conjunction with the Yakima County Development Association and the Small Business Development Center presents a five session “How to plan and grow your business by creating a realistic and executable plan”. This workshop series will provide an easy to understand process to identifying and reaching your goals. The first session will explain how the five sessions will work, outline a process for determining your goals, objectives for operating your business, we will also discuss the opportunity for winning a small business grant offered at the end of the series. The second session will explore your goals and discuss how financing questions affect the creation and development of your business. The third session will discuss key revenue and expense items, how to identify and track those items. The fourth session looks at the basics of income statements and balance sheets. All of this combined information will lead to a discussion of writing a comprehensive, easy to write and understand business plan. Participants will be offered the opportunity to create a business plan which will judged for content and ease of understanding as well as probability of success. The winning business plan will have the opportunity to win a small business grant from the SDA. The dates for the meetings will include dinner and will be Thursdays September 15th , 29th, October 13th, November 3rd and November 17th from 5:30 pm to 7pm. In order to be part of the competition (which is optional), business plans need to be submitted by December 9th and the decision on the best plan will be revealed on December 23rd. Kirk Duncan, Yakima’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be leading the sessions and will be available to provide one on one advising to be the participates on any business related topic including working with participates on their business plan. The cost of the sessions will be $50 and each participate will be asked to complete an entry form which will include the SBDC form that allows for no cost, confidential advising services.
