You’re Invite to a Community Conversation with Franklin County Public Health on September 11th, 2023 at 3pm. Franklin County Public Health’s Behavioral Health and Addiction Services Section is starting a Peer Support Program and needs your input on how this program would be most beneficial to the community! If you are someone living with substance, use disorder (i.e., an active user of substances), in recovery yourself, or someone affected by people who use, we want to hear your opinions on how this program can best support you and your community, please plan to join us for this critical conversation. Whether or not you know someone personally, substance use can affect you, your neighborhood, and your county. These conversations will be aimed to discover community awareness of: 1. Support services currently available 2. How to connect to services 3. Ease/availability of services 4. Use and overdose statistics for the county 5. Different pathways to recovery/life sustainability 6. Recovery options and communities within Franklin County We will also want to know: 1. What barriers currently exist for supportive services 2. How FCPH can help remove barriers to recovery/ support services 3. Experiences with agencies, businesses, BHAD service providers 4. Perceptions of current overdose crisis, people living with SUD, and those affected by it 5. How people are treated in the community 6. Experiences with law enforcement and emergency medical personnel. 7. What FCPH can do to help/be of support 8. Where FCPH should target resources 9. Services community finds useful or cumbersome The meeting would last 60-90 minutes, a meal will be provided!
