I am Galen Bock, Seminar Coordinator and I have been puting on this seminar since 2017. I do this as a mission work for Permian Basin Area. I developed the Seminar after the events that my wife and I had to go through to take care of my mother-in-law in 2014. A non-family member filed Conservator & Guardianship papers in the State of New Mexico, when she wast at their home. The State of New Mexico took over her care and estate. My wife was an only child and was nto allow to have any say in anything! We counter sued the State and after 56 weeks and $35,000 we won our case and got her back. We move her to Orchard Park Memory Care in Odessa. Where she passed in 2016.
This seminar is an educational seminar for people from the age of 40 to retirement. The seminar is about what is necessary when it comes to caring for our parents. This seminar has eight speaker that coveresthe following issues: 1. The Legal paperwork necessary, 2. Financial issues, 3. Medicare concerns, 4. Hospice care, 5. Home care, 6. Alzheimers & Dementia, 7. What questions to ask if your put your loved one in a facility?, and 8. Funeral issues. The topics are relevant when we look at taking care of our aging parents. The seminar is to help with promoting a conversation with aging parents and their children and give resources for further discussion. I also have Vendor booths to visit for additional information.
