Do you like movies? Do you like exploring behind the scenes and learning the nuts and bolts of movie making? If so, please join us for Reel Adventures: Chinatown Trivia Night! It’s like a book club, but MUCH better! Along with good fun, food, and drink, there will be prizes awarded for trivia winners, best costume, and more.
It works like this: We pick a movie that is either available free of charge, or at minimal cost, on one or more digital platforms. You watch this movie in the comfort of your own home, and then we meet at the museum for a discussion led by film expert and director Jeffrey Goodman, intermixed with trivia and games.
This is a BYOB evening, so please feel free to bring your favorite spirits and mixers. In addition, we will be providing complimentary water, soft drinks, a signature-themed cocktail, and light hors d’oeuvres, but you are encouraged to bring whatever snacks strike your fancy.
The first film in this series is Chinatown (1974) starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston. Nominated for 11 Academy Awards and selected as one of the 100 Greatest American Movies Of All Time by the American Film Institute this movie is a proven classic and the perfect film to kick off our new film club.
Chinatown is available on Hulu and HBO Max for FREE and on YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon Prime for $2.99.
So, we look forward to seeing you dressed to the nines in your favorite 1930s Los Angeles noir chic on our first Reel Adventure!
