Difficulty level: Intermediate due to changes in grade of the unpaved paths and the ability to step over and around obstacles in the path. The ability to navigate steep inclines will be necessary. Awareness of bike riders is needed as well. Parking/Meeting location: The group will meet near the map/information sign located just inside the parking lot entrance and near the brick building for the restrooms. Water, insect repellent and closed toe footware good for hiking. There may also be some very sunny parts where a hat and sunscreen is useful. Meet your volunteer guides: Diane and Mary Anne are both dedicated forest preserve volunteers. Diane has a lifelong interest in nature. As a Cook County Forest Preserve volunteer since 2019 and an avid hiker, she has formed and led fitness hiking groups for over 10 years. Mary Anne has been volunteering in the forest preserves for many years and has completed several training courses including Trail Watch. She loves the outdoors and is excited to explore and guide the group. What to bring/wear: Water, sunscreen, comfortable clothing/shoe, mosquito/tick repellent, and rain poncho if needed.
