Arborist Hiring Groundman

I am an ISA certified arborist with a small tree company in Bellingham. For the next two weeks, I will be working in Granite Falls, and need a groundman to help me lower limbs, move rounds of wood, and stack brush. I only work in this area occasionally, but it would be helpful to have a contact with a flexible schedule in the area to help with jobs that come up there. If you are willing to travel to Whatcom County, I will have more work for you up here. You will need to have your own, reliable transportation to and from the job site. Starting wage is $20/hour; if you have any of the following, you will get automatically bumped up to $25/hour after 2 weeks, should we choose to continue working together: 4+ years chainsaw experience, have your own saws, ability to sharpen and maintain saws, small engine (wood-chipper, stump grinder) and/or diesel truck repair/maintenance skills, or your own truck you are willing to use to tow a 16 ft. dump trailer (F250, with tow package, similar, or bigger). No experience is necessary, but highly valued. I’m willing to train anyone that has the right attitude and genuinely wants to learn. The most important quality in an ideal employee is flexibility, commitment and a positive attitude. This job is extremely difficult, physically and mentally, so working as a team is fundamental. That being said, while some days we need to move thousands of pounds in logs, other days we will be trimming hedges, planting trees or maintaining equipment. That two week carrot is set because you should know if the job is for you or not by then, and we will know if it’s a good fit. I look forward to meeting you, and working together.
