I'm tryin to play some old music in a new way. Distortion and delay on the electric fiddle, phasers and chorus on the banjo. Old time and rock n roll and punk songs but not how you thought they were supposed to be. Noise music solos. Kinda country outlaw oriented, or like a cowboy from the 1860's who got abducted by aliens.
I play strings, mostly electric guitar and fiddle these days. Grew up playing classical violin, was the bass player in some kind of math rock band in college, then held down fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar in a couple bluegrass bands. Now I play electric guitar with an extensive set of effects pedals and it gets pretty weird. I have been performing solo around town but the show would be cooler with a band!
It's hard to find the right people for a band, but you gotta start somewhere so I suppose I'm open to anything. Drums and bass are pretty obvious components of course, but if you're into things like alternative percussion instruments, or if you play upright bass (or cello!) that would be right up the alley. Bands like the Rolling Stones and Flatt & Scruggs had multiple melody players so if you're a guitar/banjo/mandolin/fiddle/etc kind of person maybe we could be like Keith and Ronnie. Maybe you're the poet like Robert Hunter. Keyboards, synthesizers, and noise musicians, or anyone else who might be interested in traditional or nontraditional approaches to life. Let's get together
