This family-friendly event is open to everyone in the community, and will feature live music, games, and food for the entire family. Food trucks will be onsite with meals available for purchase, including Burnt Endz (offering wings, BBQ, ribs, and sandwiches), The Snack Bar (offering sliders, a variety of hotdogs, and snacks including street tacos and nachos) and Kona Ice (providing many flavors of shaved ice treats). There will be games and activities for children and adults, including cornhole, face painting, temporary tattoos, and making steppingstones. Live music is scheduled during the entire three-hour period featuring local musicians. Rick Applegate, director of activities at The Hearth at Hendersonville, will be performing a variety of country music, and is especially known for his renditions of popular Elvis Presley songs. Ray Newman, a frequent performer at assisted living facilities throughout Sumner County, will play guitar and sing a variety of oldies, country music and gospel. Matt Steinhauer has been playing guitar and wrangling with words for a good portion of his life and is grateful for every opportunity he has had to share his gifts of music and writing. His original songs are formed by real-life encounters and tempered by his life-long wrestling with God. Because he understands the joy and affirmation of having the opportunity to share his original work with others, it is his great joy to provide support and encouragement for other Singer/Songwriters any chance he gets. A lifelong resident of Hendersonville, he recently retired as Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Tennessee. Stacy Lawson is an Americana singer and songwriter who comes from the hills of the Cumberland Plateau in White County Tennessee. Now living just outside of Nashville, Stacy’s background comes from Appalachia but has evolved into a style of folk, country and gospel music which has touched audiences from all walks of life. At 2 pm, the Reverend Jennifer Michael, pastor at St. Timothy, will hold a Blessing of the Animals. Attendees are invited to bring their companion animals of all kinds to be blessed by her as we prepare to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th. St. Timothy requests that all pets be leashed, crated, or otherwise contained for the safety of all attendees and animals. If the Blessing of the Animals would not be a blessing to an animal because they might be fearful or too exuberant, the community is invited to bring a picture or drawing of their companion animal.
