Description

The Garden Courts Townhomes are residential homes at the heart of Chicago. The loop and surrounding Chicago neighborhoods have some of the lowest canopies in the city and therefore a prime location to add some trees. With financial support from the Morton Arboretum and in honor of their Centennial Year Celebration, we will be planting 14 trees at the Garden Courts to reduce heat islands and better manage water retention at this site. We will be meeting beside the parking lot on Racine. There is no public parking in this lot, so arriving on public transport is ideal. Here is the coordinate point. No experience is necessary! Volunteers will help us dig holes, plant trees, mulch, and water. Please bring a mask, long pants, closed toe shoes, a (full) water bottle and sunscreen. We will take care of everything else! Note that masks may need to be worn for the duration of the project. We will limit group size and maintain social distancing as needed for participants' health and safety. We look forward to making a difference in this community and hope that you will join us! *Please include a phone number in your registration in case of last-minute schedule changes due to weather!
