Description

A Medfield Historical Minute... This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis. "In 1907 Town Meeting voted the sum of $40 for a stone to be placed in the Pilgrim Monument being constructed at Provincetown, Massachusetts. The tower, dedicated to the first landing of the Pilgrims in 1620 and for the signing of the Mayflower Compact in Provincetown Harbor, was completed in 1910. The corner stone was laid by President Theodore Roosevelt and when completed was dedicated by President William Taft. The Medfield stone can still be seen when climbing the stairs of the monument."
