Description

A Medfield Historical Minute... This "Medfield Historical Minute" is brought to you by town historian Richard DeSorgher.A little something to read and learn to give you a little break during this time of boredom during isolation due to the Coronavirus Crisis. A different "Medfield Historical Minute" will appear each day during the Crisis. "In 1668, Medfield voters were reportedly concerned about the powers of the town selectmen and wanting some restrictions placed upon their powers, voted at Town Meeting that "hereafter the selectmen shall report at town-meeting all the receipts and expenditures of the town from year to year." While the motion passed, it was strongly opposed by some of the original settlers, including town founder Ralph Wheelock and town minister Rev. John Wilson."
