To be fully considered you must apply here: DRI is seeking to fill a full-time Custodian located in Reno, NV, working under general supervision, to perform various cleaning services, including the following responsibilities: •Mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, trash pickup, cleaning, sanitizing and restocking restrooms. •Performing scheduled floor maintenance tasks, such as steam cleaning carpets, and waxing/buffing tile floors. •Maintaining janitorial equipment. •Performing routine building maintenance and repairs to kitchen and restroom plumbing. •Maintaining building safety and security by ensuring that doors are securely locked at all appropriate times and conducting building sweeps at close of business. •Respond to on-call phone for fire, security, and mechanical failures for the campus. •Assist with the Institute’s recycling program of paper, aluminum cans, plastics, cardboard, batteries, etc. •Remove and/or de-ice stairs and sidewalks whenever snow or ice has accumulated. Required Qualifications •High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of full-time experience performing custodial work. •Basic mechanical skills. •Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook. •Ability to follow oral and written instructions, read/understand labels and mixing directions. •Knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices. •Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel, including technical and academic staff. •Proven success working within a team environment. •Possession of valid driver’s license by date of hire. Preferred Qualifications (optional) Greater consideration will be given to those who possess one or more of the following skills: •Experience working in an institutional, commercial, or educational building setting. •Familiarity of LEED cleaning procedures. •Experience using snow blowers and/or quad with snowplow. Compensation Grade Technologist Grade 27, minimum starting salary of $36,583. Candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience, skills, and abilities DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (Choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts); PERS 15.50% retirement match, 10 hours of annual AND 10 hours sick leave accrued per month, 11 paid holidays, and educational benefits. Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance. Schedule Working hours are Monday – Friday 9:30 am – 6:00 pm. This position is also required to be on-call (on a rotating basis) and to respond to after-hours emergencies. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting objects in excess of 50 lbs., climbing ladders and working at heights up to 30 ft; frequently stooping, bending, and kneeling; exposure to dust, fumes, pollutant, and construction materials; handling and mixing of chemicals and moving hazardous waste. Conditions of Employment •Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. •Technologist positions have a 6-month probationary period where your job performance will be reviewed at 3 months and then 6 months, at which time you may be taken off probation with satisfactory reviews. Unsatisfactory reviews during the first 6 months may result in termination.
