Description

We’ve partnered with Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts incubator to offer a unique Canvas Bag Image Transfer Workshop as part of their current exhibition Depth of Identity: Art as Memory and Archive. Led by Miami-based artists Iggy and Jean Font, this two-hour event features instruction and materials for image transfer, collage, stitching, painting and more to create a meaningful and personal artwork with a focus on identity: where you come from; where you call home; what places, people, and cultures are important to your journey. Iggy will guide you through the process of transferring images from paper (like magazines, calendars, books, and newspapers) onto fabric using specific materials. Jean will invite you to explore the generations of your identity, past, present, and future. Do you know who your ancestors are? What questions do you have for them? What wisdom do they hold for you? Each attendee will receive a canvas bag to create on, using it to develop a personal story through image transfer of family photographs, magazine images, newspaper and book pages, and more. Collage, stitching, mark making and painting will be available to enhance your work. All necessary materials provided.
