WHAT IS THE CAREGIVER RELIEF DAY?. Is the first type of an event to recognize, highlight, empower and thank our invisible heroes AKA FAMILY CAREGIVERS. There are approximately 65 million unpaid family caregivers providing care to the aged, blind and disabled. Do you know a caregiver; does a caregiver work for you? Does a caregiver worship with you? You most likely know one of them. They serve with love courage and never-ending perseverance. They have mastered the art of juggling and balancing their multiple roles and responsibilities. Some work 24 hours a day with days blending into weeks, months and even years. Today, caregivers experience physical, emotional, financial, and career strain from the stress associated with caregiving. At Elk Grove Methodist church we recognize that most caregiving families are totally consumed and overwhelmed with the challenges of caregiving and they lack the time, resources and expertise needed to provide the necessary care. CAREGIVER RELIEF DAY will provide NO COST day of stress relief, wellness education, family care planning, resources, fun activities and relaxation services for all family caregivers. The program will include chair massages, arm and hand massages, paraffin treatments, aromatherapy, art, painting, fun, laughter and relaxation. There will be lots of refreshments and consultants and service providers will be on site to offer support and resources for caregiving. So what should you wear to CAREGIVER RELIEF DAY? Wear something with turquoise…….it is the official color of Caring 4 Caregivers and it gives you good energy as well as a sense of wellbeing. CAREGIVER RELIEF DAY is open to the public and there is no cost to attend but registration is required.
