Description
Students will have a firsthand look at one of the country’s most beautiful public buildings. The Santa Barbara County Courthouse is designed in the Spanish-Colonial style and was completed in 1929. It is a fully operational Courthouse and an iconic Santa Barbara landmark. Its four-faced clock tower, red tile roofs, elegant arches and sunken garden and grounds make it an exceptional building and a must-see, place to visit. Through Heartland’s personally guided tour, students can get a visual history lesson from the elaborate hand-painted murals, to the ornate wrought-iron chandeliers. They will learn about its magnificent architecture and what it took to construct this incredible building. Finally, they will get to climb to the top of the clock tower for an incredible panoramic view of Santa Barbara and beyond. The focus of the tour will be on the building and construction of this incredible structure. We encourage families to turn in a sample that is linked to the field trip that you attended during your next learning period.
