Description
We are a respectful, engaged group of writers welcoming all skill levels and genres. New to the workshop? Please take a moment and read this guide. The purpose of this workshop is to look closely at each other's work and help cultivate, inspire, and strengthen our individual craft. Workshop pieces can be found on the Member Shared Files page of the BWW website; membership is free and as simple as signing up for any other website. You will find pieces in the Workshops folder (Middlebury subfolder) of the Fileshare labeled according to the following format: MMDD_MIDDLEBURY_initials. So for instance, if Hemmingway joined us for a January 21st workshop, he would submit as 0121_MIDDLEBURY_EH. We will spend approximately 45 minutes discussing each piece. We also encourage participants to provide written reactions. Above all else, our meeting space is a sanctuary and respecting the privacy of the writer is paramount. By participating we agree not to discuss an author's work or a participant's feedback with those not involved. What happens during our meetings, stays within those meetings. Please take a moment to read this article on offering productive feedback. While not a "rulebook", giving feedback can be a craft in of itself, and the guidelines offered are useful. If you wish to submit a piece for our group, please contact the group leader. Please make sure you have attended a BWW workshop and given feedback to others before you submit your own piece (per BWW guidelines). Please request early and have your piece posted no less than one week in advance of the workshop you have chosen so that we all have time to dedicate to it. We meet at the Golden Rule Mead Cafe (8 Elm St.) in Middlebury, VT. If you would like to participate, please sign up here to the group organizer and they will add you to the group's email list to make sure you get the relevant info. We look forward to having you join us! MEETING: Only registered members of Burlington Writers Workshop will be given access to this session. Membership is free and easy. CANCEL: PLEASE cancel your registration if you will not be in attendance, so people on the WAIT LIST will be able to fill that seat. To cancel, click your name or email in the top right corner of the Eventbrite screen, click on tickets, click on workshop to be canceled, and click cancel order. Host: Alexandre Apfel lives and works in Middlebury, writing mostly poems in the interstices of operating a fledgling meadery and hosting duties for the Middlebury Chapter. As writer and workshop facilitator, he hopes to share his appreciation of writing and language as bridges between our private islands, as our true sense and expression of meaning as well as that with which we collaborate to appreciate and explore the depth meaning of our interior and communal lives.
