2022 Triad Walk for Apraxia Registration EVENT INFO The FREE walk event will be on October 16, 2022 with onsite registration and activities starting at 2:00pm and the Walk in the garden starting at 3:00pm. At the event, we will have kids' field activities, food vendors (coffee, ice cream truck, Patriot Pretzel), prizes, and free snacks and resources. We will also have princesses and mascot appearances, the fire truck and police car and more! The Walk through the garden will be followed by a brief ceremony to raise awareness about Apraxia and to recognize those Apraxia Stars (individuals with Apraxia) who are present at the event. REGISTRATION INFO We are encouraging pre-registration via the QR code on the flyer attached to this email. Registrants don't have to donate, but are free to do so on the site. We also encourage them to register as Apraxia supporters. You could even create a team for your congregation, family or community. Additionally, attendees can register that day onsite starting at 2:00pm. GENERAL INFO Walks for Apraxia are held annually across the country and are supported by the national non-profit Apraxia Kids. This year's event in NC will be held for the first time in Kernersville and the awareness walk event is being spearheaded by a mom, whose daughter has childhood apraxia of speech. The Planning Team is hoping for an incredible event to raise awareness for Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and the team is building momentum You may be familiar with Apraxia, but if not, I just wanted to provide a very brief synopsis from the Apraxia Kids website: "Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech." Each annual event is meant to bring the community together to celebrate the teams who walk and the Apraxia stars and to raise awareness with some incredible community partners, activities, and fun surprises!
