She received her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Mississippi and her master’s in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. Aquanda has served in many roles throughout her career as an educator from the classroom to state-level leadership. In 2019, Coach Aquanda transitioned from serving children to serving the spiritual and emotional needs of women using her certification as a life coach. Coach Aquanda is also the author of Struggle has its Strengths: A Woman’s Guide to Winning While Healing Emotional Wounds. Coach Aquanda is the proud wife of Kendrick Cummings, and is also the grateful mother of two amazing boys; KJ and Case. Coach Aquanda has dedicated her life to helping women and children reach their fullest spiritual and personal potential through self awareness. Guest Instructor Rev. Bernice Cummings Rev. Cummings is a teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She is a member of Peoples Community Baptist Church in Tupelo, MS, under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Stevie McKinney. She serves as one of our Associate Pastors at Peoples and one of our Women's Sunday School teachers. She is active with our Evangelism Ministry and one of our Prayer Warriors. She is retired from NMMC and former Surgery Associates P.A. employee. She is married to Jim Cummings and together they have eight children, twenty-six grand-children and thirty-six great-children. Guest Instructor Minister Lenton Smith Minister Smith is a member of The Word Full Gospel Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi under the leadership of Pastor Fredrick Stewart, also her son-in-law, and whose First Lady, Ashley Stewart, is her oldest daughter. Min. Smith is who she is by the Grace of God! She is a retired educator with the Tupelo Public School District for 25 years and also a retired chaplain for the Sanctuary Hospice Organization for 12 years. As a minister of the Gospel, she is an exhorter and a cheerleader for Christ! She is married to Kelvin Smith, and lives in Tupelo, Mississippi. They have two daughters; Ashley (married to Fredrick Stewart) and Alison (married to Jasper Gardner), and two grandsons, Ayden and Anderson. Her desire as an exhorter is to see us as Christians grow in faith and maturity so that unbelievers will be attracted to the Gospel by our lives! Guest Instructor Bishop Jessie Gilmore Bishop Gilmore is a graduate from Andersonville Theological Seminary with her Bachelors in Theology. She was appointed Bishop within Independents Fellowship International (IFI) under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Roger Christopher. She is a dedicated servant of her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and a lover of people. She wears many hats, yet she is a simple and humble woman. Bishop Gilmore was the founder of Emmanuel Gospel of Grace Community Church in Verona, MS and also serves her community in the following capacities: Alderwoman of Verona, MS, completion of MS Municipal League Advanced Studies, retired teacher with Verona Elementary, volunteer with NMMC Pastoral Care services, Assistant to the Pastor and Youth Minister under the late Rev. Robert Jamison, Sunday School Superintendent & Field Missionary for the General Progressive Baptist State Convention. She is a mother, mother-in-law and grandmother who loves her family (especially her grandchildren), loves to read, loves Bible study, and loves being outdoors. She has been an anointed preacher of the Gospel, Bible teacher, and presenter/coordinator of conferences, workshops and retreats for over 25 years. Guest Instructor Rev. Dr. Cheryl Penson Dr. Penson currently serves as the proud pastor of Lane Chapel CME Church in Tupelo, MS, where she has served as senior pastor for over 14 years and co-pastor with Rev. Charles Penson for 2 of those years. She has also served as pastor for Oak Grove CME Church in Rienzi, MS. Dr. Penson served on the District and Regional Board of Christian Education in leadership and family ministry. She presently serves as a member of the Ministerial Examination Committee and is a Regional Trustee. Dr. Penson is a graduate of Miss. State University with a B.S. in Communication. She earned a Master of Science from the University of MS in Communicative Disorders, and is a Suma Cum Laude Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry graduate from Memphis Theological Seminary (MTS). She was voted the Most Outstanding African American Female Student at MTS. Dr. Penson is a graduate of the Create and Leadership Lee County leadership classes. She is an American Speech/Language and Hearing certified Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP). She has served as a speech pathologist for North MS Medical Center and Gilbert’s Home Health. She has been employed by Tupelo City Schools, Okolona Schools and Lee County Schools. She is a retired SLP and a 36-year veteran of education. Dr. Penson humbly leads Lane Chapel CME Church in ministries beyond the walls. The church is very active in providing temporary homeless shelter, feeding and clothing for the homeless. The community is served through voter registration and transportation, in addition to various spiritual/worship experiences. Dr. Penson has served on various boards such as the Girl Scout USA Board of directors, The Methodist Senior Services Board of Directors, Lee County Library Board of Directors and several others. As a female pastor her motto is “Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t mean it isn’t true”. Her passion includes preaching and teaching God’s word, learning, working with females of all ages, but especially teens, and marriage ministry. “I believe God has so much in store for us and everyday is a journey towards bigger and better things.” She is the wife of Rev. Charles H. Penson, and the mother of three: Charles II (Susan), Candice Elana (Josh) and Chelsey Elyse (Vincent). Dr. Penson is the proud grandmother of seven: Charles III, Terry DeSun, Kingston, Kassidey, Kiyomi, Cire and Marley. Minister Linnette Miller Minister Miller is the proud wife of Bishop, Dr. Lee A. Miller Sr., Pastor of the Faith Harvest Church. Their forty-year marriage has produced four children and fifteen grandchildren. She works diligently beside her husband, while also being a minister of the Gospel. Min. Miller is a native of Booneville, MS, and excels in most things she puts her hands to. She speaks volumes to the fact that a small town girl from a large family, can follow a universal God and change the world. Linnette Miller lives by the mantra, “If I follow Christ, I’ll never see what impossible looks like.”
