Description

Would you like to help RI's Flower Charity put on a big outdoor festival next Saturday August 27th? Good news, we still have a few volunteer roles left. Limited to folks who are 18+ and able to get to the Farm in Olneyville under their own steam. There's a RIPTA bus stop two blocks away and we offer secure bike parking, as well as some parking in the neighborhood. The benefits: You get to work surrounded by flowers in bloom and help your community. The money we raise at the Festival goes directly to giving away 100,000 flowers per year to food banks, hospices, senior services, shelters and the like. Sandwiches, snacks, drinks, sunblock and all supplies will be provided. We will reply to all entries within 24 hours. If you've registered to volunteer with us in the past, thank you! This form is this only way to confirm Flower Festival volunteering specifically at this time. Thanks so much for considering volunteering with us!! Farm Conditions/Accessibility: It can be more than 10 degrees hotter here than the rest of the state. Make sure you're prepared for the day's weather and please wear comfortable, close-toed shoes. Sandals, crocs, loose clogs, etc. not being appropriate for the mixed terrain. Wear something sturdy! We provide bug spray, sunscreen, and gloves, though you may bring your own, if you prefer them. Tools are provided as well. Volunteers on these days should be able to stand the entire time, walk on moderate mixed terrain, and be able to lift at least 25 pounds. Instruction will be provided for all tasks, all comfort levels are welcome. (Instruction is only in English at this time).Parking: While we do have enough parking for each day's worth of volunteer's cars (~6), we strongly encourage carpooling, walking, using RIPTA (we're two blocks away from four bus routes) and biking! Registration: All volunteers must register for each "shift". Meaning if you want to bring a friend, family member or colleague to volunteer with you (please do! :) they need to sign up with this link, too. A release form will be required to be signed by each volunteer on the day of their visit. Ages :14 yr and up only. Youth must receive permission from a parent or guardian prior to visit. A release form will be emailed out in advance. Looking to register for our weekly Wednesday volunteer shift? Click here. Or email us at [email protected]
