Summary:
Communications Dispatchers perform a full range of radio and telephone operational duties in our facility. Dispatchers are required to process and prioritize pre-scheduled, scheduled and emergency runs.
Responsibilities:
The Dispatcher will be responsible for the use of a computer-aided dispatch system, receive emergency and non-emergency phone calls from contracted and non-contracted healthcare facilities and patients for a variety of services. Determine the nature and location of the transport; determine priorities, and dispatch ambulette and ambulance units in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Receive and process phone calls, when other call taking staff is not available. Maintain contact with all units on assignment; maintain status and location of all units. Attach digitized run reports and documents to appropriate transport records in the company's database. Monitor radio/cell phone traffic. Enter, update and retrieve information from a variety of computer systems. Monitor and operate several computer systems. Relates effectively to those contacted in the course of work. Operate a variety of communication equipment, including radio consoles, telephones and computer systems. Performs other duties as required by management.
