TL;DR This is coyote season and they will sweep through neighborhoods looking for cats and small dogs, especially in the morning and after sun down.
I know most locals are aware of the coyote threat, but as a transplant several years ago, I was not. I grew up with indoor/outdoor cats my whole life and simply had no idea how prevalent they were in this area when I moved here.
Long story short, I lost my beloved young cat and it broke my heart. So each year in her honor I make a post like this to warn others of the coyote threat in hopes that it can save even one cat's life.
I just saw a large one yesterday and it reminded me it was that time of year again.
Please be careful with your cats and/or when walking your dogs, especially outside of daylight hours. <3
