During the Thursday of race weekend from 9:00 a.m. until about 2:00 p.m., students come out to the race - hosted by RWC. They participate in the National Hot Rod Association's Career Fair, hear racer presentations about their careers, watch on-track activity, and visit team "Pits" to meet the racers and watch crews work on their racing machines. VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION: Volunteering for this field trip involves: (1) greeting students as they arrive for their field trip, (2) handing out tote bags to them, (3) helping them pose for group photos with the racers, (4) accompanying them to the areas where they will participate in the Career Day Program, to the grandstand to watch on-track activity, and to race team "Pit" areas, keeping them together among the crowds, 5) handing them comment cards and pens, and gathering the filled-out comment cards back, and 6) assisting the photographer with taking photos of the Comment Cards, etc. One volunteer will stay at RWC's home base (Steve Johnson Racing's Hospitality Area) for the day to order pizza and go to Gate 17 to pick it up from the delivery-person and bring it back to the Steve Johnson Racing Hospitality Area and generally assist the Coordinator as needed. The hours we would need your assistance are from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10. You will get a free ticket for the day, so if you would like to stay on after RWC's program is over, you are welcomed to. RWC is providing a pizza lunch for volunteers and Field Trip participants. We will also provide each volunteer a t-shirt - please wear dark jeans or slacks so everyone will appear coordinated. Volunteers will need to provide their own transportation to and from the Fairgrounds. Parking passes will be provided. At the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, RWC will provide you with a receipt for your event-related out of pocket expenses, so keep all your recdeipts for your tax preparer. It is not difficult work, but is fun and exhausting! Be advised that it includes a lot of standing and walking so wear comfortable shoes! We have found that the weather is fairly warm for this event, but you may want to layer or bring a windbreaker, just in case it is cool. Thanks so much for your time and consideration! We look forward to the possibility of working with you this year!
