Small to medium dog wanted

We are retired, lost our dog some time ago. Hubby is 80% blind & needs a couch buddy. I need a companion for drives + modest walks. Prefer no older than middle aged. Over the decades we've had lhasas & shih tzu's, a dachshund & an Idaho shag, even a golden retriever (retriever would be too big for our current home)... so we're open as to breed. We have a large fenced yard + llamas who are used to dogs.
