the GOP vote. His followers will only vote for him, so a centre-right candidate would get the votes of the more moderate centrist part of the GOP. But would there be enough votes on one side or another for Trump or the centre-right candidate to get elected? I really doubt it. Trump certainly has a groundswell of support. But after the lunacy of some things that went on under The Donald and his family, not every GOP member would want to go that way again. A split GOP vote seems way more likely.
