Right wing media keeps on spinning and claiming that the IRS will be coming for individuals and small businesses and that is why they need more funding. The fact of the matter is this: More funding for the IRS means more tax evaders and people who are not paying their fair share can be brought into compliance. The net result will be a return on the investment in additional resources. That means the rest of us who pay our taxes will not have to shoulder the burden of the deadbeats. Speaking of deadbeats. Donald Trump should be able to testify to the fact that the IRS needs more agents. For 5 or 6 years now he has been unable to show us his tax returns because as he puts it "he is under audit by the IRS". Well, if the IRS is so backed-up that they cannot finish their audit in 5 or more years it is obvious they need more resources. Why Trump did not fix this while he was in office, I do not know. Perhaps he was too busy golfing and enriching himself to deal with appropriately funding the IRS.
