it feels infinitely more tolerable in the moment and maybe even like putting your emotional health first when you do it. Yet you also unconsciously sow the seeds of emotional turmoil in your life when you enact this behavior—which is called avoidance (resistance, if you like). The inability to radically accept reality, acknowledge its significance, and acknowledge your own feelings of discomfort is what keeps you trapped in cycles of unhappiness, unworthiness, guilt, shame, abandonment. Your lack of accountability to yourself and your mental/ emotional state is where you get hurt. Showing up is a game-changing first step in changing the script. Feel, listen, think.
