Description

Join us at Apex Plaza on Thursday, September 15 at 4pm for this workshop, with time to reflect afterwards with others in the WRISE Cville community! Spots are limited - please RSVP by September 9 to guarantee a spot! Personal AgencyPersonal agency: the sense that I am the one who is causing or generating an action (Gallagher 2000, p. 15). A person with a sense of personal agency perceives [themself] as the subject influencing [their] own actions and life circumstances (Bandura 2006; Gallagher 2000). Questions: Are you more reactive than responsive? Do you ever hesitate to state an opinion or offer an idea in a meeting? Do you second-guess your decisions? Do you sometimes need permission before taking action? Are you ever over-concerned with other peoples’ feelings OR how they think of you? Have you “leveled up” at work only to face more inner doubt? Do you find yourself wanting someone to just tell you what to do next? A stronger sense of personal agency is a game-changer. It’s also a set of skills you can gain and refine through practice. This is an interactive workshop, using solo, partner, and group exercises to help participants feel equipped to use these skills right away.
