August 25-27 Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Every Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. About Us: The Music Theatre of Idaho (MTI, 501 (c) 3), is a non-profit corporation based in Nampa, Idaho. Since 1997, the MTI’s mission has been to provide the Treasure Valley with professional quality, family-oriented, and affordable Broadway musicals. The MTI performs in the beautiful Brandt Auditorium of the Nampa Civic Center. The MTI is a member of the American Association of Community Theatre. For the past 25 years, the MTI has directed and produced over 600 performances entertaining thousands of patrons, who live and work in the Treasure Valley. Each year, the MTI produces six musicals performed by an amazing cast of volunteer performers of all ages. Volunteer musicians perform backstage at every show. Everyone, regardless of talent, is welcome to audition for our shows.
