Looking for quotes on replacing the cedar shingle siding on one side of a house -- the area marked with the red border in the attached photos, except area in dotted yellow. 1. Replacing the siding: - The area to be replaced starts from the top of the first floor and goes up to (but not including) the dotted yellow area. On the right it ends at the downspout shown. Note that the bottom row of shingles in the marked area flairs out, with triangular drip points, as shown in the detailed photo. The gross area to be replaced (including windows) is about ~672 sqft. Width of marked area: ~35 ft. Height of marked area, from trangular drip points to roof peak: ~26.5ft. Height from triangular drip points to top of upper windos: ~19ft. - Shingles in the dotted yellow area need to be scraped, primed and painted. They were already replaced a few years ago, and do not need to be replaced except above the upper windows in order to re-flash the tops of the windows. - Shingles must be cedar #2 R&R or better, installed in accordance with recommendations at Exposure (i.e., course height) must match existing exposure, which is about 5" - 5.5". Fasteners must be stainless steel, except that aluminum nails must be used in areas that contact aluminum flashing. Staples may be used if concealed. Nails must be used where concealed fastening is not possible. - Shingles must be primed on all surfaces before installation. Primer must be oil based, dark color -- not white or gray. - Windows must be re-flashed with aluminum flashing that is fastened with aluminum nails. On windows with aluminum trim wrap, flashing on window sides must be tucked under existing aluminum trim wrap, by temporarily lifting the aluminum trim wrap and then re-fastening it with aluminum nails. 2. Top coat all installed shingles with Behr Premium Solid Color Stain and Sealer, custom red color specified by customer. Any sprayed solid stain must be back brushed. 3. While you are up there: scrape, prime and paint the cream-colored roof trim above the marked area. Primer may be any high quality exterior primer. Finish coat must be Behr High Gloss, custom cream color specified by customer. Other details: - Customer will pay in full immediately upon job completion. If desired, customer will pay for shingles prior to job start and deduct the cost from the total cost, provided that they are delivered to the job site. Client will not pay any labor in advance. - Price quoted should be all inclusive: labor, materials and any other costs. Contractor is responsible for debris disposal and any necessary permits and insurance. - All work must be performed in accordance with building codes, manufacturers' recommendations and best professional standards. - Job site does not have on-site bathroom access, but there is a Dunkin Donuts nearby with a restroom.
