Description
I am looking to rehome my ex’s German shepherd.
Ella is a 5.5 year old German shepherd. She is a very playful dog who will do best with someone who is wanting a dog that they wish to spend a lot of time with. She will play catch until your arm falls off and would probably do well with someone who likes to go for runs or walks.
She does okay with other dogs however she is dominant so she may not do well with another dominant dog. She has been around my children since she was a puppy and she does great with them however this is a German shepherd and it is going to take some work to transition to a new home so this is not the dog to pickup to take home to cheer up your kids. She could be a great dog but would be best with someone who can spend a lot of time with her and help her transition. I would imagine that after that transition with someone wanting to train her she could be around kids fine.
She does not do well when enclosed or crated around people she is not familiar with and will show aggression. She can be crated if she is around those that she knows well. If you were to walk into my yard and she is on the other side of the fence she would likely bark however if I was out with her and you were there she would be focused on playing or chasing a ball.
I kept the dog for my ex but she has decided not to come back and get her and given me permission to do as I wish. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to dedicate the time that this type of dog needs. She would do best with someone who likes to run or take walks and spend a bunch of time with the dog.
She seems to do better with woman than men however I think a man could handle her as long as he isn’t afraid to take control of the situation. I have never had an issue getting the dog to listen to me but I think it will take a strong voice.
