Once a month, the Innovation Collective gathers local community members for a night of storytelling from local entrepreneurs, exceptional citizens, politicians or other civic leaders, and innovative minds. We designed this to be a way for curious and ambitious people to connect with others just like them--people who are creating value for their communities, looking for their next steps, figuring out their purpose, building better futures, and becoming better versions of themselves. With the chance to hear the stories of trial and error, first failures and big wins, do's and don'ts of those who are doing it and have been for some time, the community can get inspired about the endless possibilities of innovations, and change the narrative that accessing a capitalist economy is possible for them, too. Michael is the owner of Mavericks Men's Hair, the barbershop our community knowingly loves right here inside the Innovation Collective's Den. The IC has been along for the ride of his ups and downs throughout his entrepreneurial journey, from him almost closing his doors for good, to thriving business as one of Coeur d'Alene's most popular barbershops in town. While dealing with the changes of life and working to make his passion a reality, he has learned many lessons that many of us in the community may have never known.
