Description
Isn't it time you laughed out loud? Meet new friends and try something new too. Square Dance is a coed team dance for eight people, led by a caller. No fancy footwork and no pressure to show your dance partner a bunch of creative moves. It is Fun, Friendship, and Fitness all rolled up into one activity! No partner, no previous experience, and no fancy clothes required. Seriously! Singles, Couples and Families (children age 9 and older with participating adult) are all welcome. Alcohol-free environment. Dancing starts immediately with simple, easy-to-understand moves. Eva Murray is a master teacher who instructs with spirit, humor, and skill. PRE-REGISTRATION: Required. DATES: September 12th, 19th, 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 2022 DAY / TIME: Monday nights, 7:00 to 8:30 pm LOCATION: A Step to Gold International Ballroom, Pleasant Valley Promenade Shopping Center, 6278 Glenwood Ave Ste 200, Raleigh, NC 27612. Located on the second floor, above Arepa Culture Restaurant. FEE: $48.00 per person for all 6 weeks of dancing. Please pay in advance via Eventbrite. Alternatively, bring cash or check and pay at the door when you arrive for the first night of the lesson series. Discounts available for families with children 9 or older. Please contact us directly for those details. COVID POLICY: Proof of COVID vaccination required. Masks Optional. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Square Dancing is gender neutral. Any person can dance either the man's role or the ladies role. The caller leads the dancing, not the individual dancers. The calls are danced the same regardless of the role you are dancing with just 3 exceptions. As a result, we do not gender balance the participants. However, when we square up, we must have an equal number of persons dancing each role in the square. If there are more ladies in attendance than men, some of the ladies will be asked to dance the man's role and vice versa. We generally have more single ladies than men participating. I strongly encourage all dancers to learn to dance both roles! Once you have completed an initial lesson series, you are welcome to join us on a drop in basis, as your schedule allows, for $8.00 per night, per person. The lesson series is shared across multiple social media sites and elsewhere. It is well attended and will take place regardless of the number of RSVP's there are for a particular event listing! Feel free to invite a friend or two!
