Open borders means LESS immigrants.

This may be difficult for the younger generation to comprehend but it's true. I am not advocating for open OR closed borders. I am merely making an observation. In the 70's and 80's immigrants were welcomed into the United States to fill jobs Americans did not want. When our borders were LESS secure (pre 9/11), immigrants would come to America, work for a few months and then head back to their homes with a pocket full of hard earned cash. This was a cycle that would occur in several industries. I saw this every year as a young man in the construction industry. Immigrants would come for 3-6 months and then go home for 12 months. Post 9/11 Bush secured our border and made it very difficult for immigrants to come to America. The side effect of this secure border is that immigrants became afraid to leave because they would have trouble getting back next season. So immigrants never go home. They stay and become a part of our culture. So what is the answer to the border crisis? I don't really know but in my life experience we should loosen border restrictions and focus on vetting immigrants to weed out any criminals. Allow the majority (honest hard working good people) in and keep the riff riff out. This is not a perfect solution but it is more beneficial to all Americans than building a wall.
