A Race to Welcome
We are racing to welcome this year during our annual 5k on September 24th! 🏃 Our community is a huge part of who we are, and hosting this run is a great way to spread welcome.
Maybe running isn’t your thing– that’s okay! You can walk, stroll, skip, hop or jump your way along the streets of Clarkston. Babies in strollers and dogs with leashes are welcome! 🐶
No matter how you cross the finish line, you’ll have the coolest t-shirt inspired by the Refuge Coffee mission of welcome.
About Refuge Coffee Co. Race
Since the 1980s, up to 2,500 refugees have been resettled annually in Clarkston, GA, a little city on the edge of Atlanta that TIME magazine called “the most diverse square mile in the country.” From over 45 countries, survivors of war and famine arrive right here in Atlanta’s backyard. And it is a challenge from day one to create a home here.
Because employment is often the first step to thriving in a new community, we started Refuge Coffee in 2015 in order to create opportunities for full-time, competitive-pay jobs and job training. Although we started with a truck, our dream was to build a Coffee Shop in the center of Clarkston that reflects the true heart of our city. And that was just the beginning...
Our mission is, simply put, welcome. Together with our community, we’ve created a place of refuge for these unique cultures to tell their stories and share their lives.
