Description

Founded in 1896 as the Oakwood Industrial School and charged with the task of training young people of African American descent, Oakwood Adventist Academy is celebrating its 126th anniversary. Oakwood Adventist Academy has the distinction of being the oldest and largest Black SDA school in the United States, and it is one of the longest continuously operating Black private schools in the United States. Oakwood Adventist Academy’s holistic educational program is built to execute the mission of the school, to Develop, Nurture, and Affirm (DNA) students mentally, physically, and spiritually for a lifetime of service to God and man. The primary purpose of the now National Oakwood Adventist Academy Alumni Association (NOAAAA) is to support the advancement of Oakwood Adventist Academy. This is traditionally accomplished through the engagement of the Association with its alumni and alumni with students, maintaining the storied history of the Association, and most importantly, generating financial contributions for the Academy. Alumni Weekends at Oakwood Adventist Academy are unlike any other….They are times to reconnect with old friends and classmates and reminisce about the days you walked the campus and hallways as a student. One of the highlights of Alumni Weekend is the annual luncheon where alumni, families, and supporters can get together and enjoy the feeling of being with family. After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, we are back and in-person! This year we will combine the annual luncheon with our honors program! We will fellowship once again while honoring those alums who have exhibited and continue to exhibit that “Mustang Spirit!” It is in this spirit that we invite you to the 2022 Oakwood Adventist Academy Alumni Honors Luncheon.
