This position is NOT a medical position. We are looking for a part-time caregiver/ mentor for our son on the weekends Saturday and Sunday 8 am-8 pm. Our son has Autism and some developmental delays. He is 26 years old. He loves Disney movies, celebrating Christmas, going out to eat, spending time with his family, shopping trips, and all things CHEESE and pasta! He loves listening to Maroon 5 and Justin Beiber. He is very happy-go-lucky and loves to sing and be silly. If you give him the time, energy and patience he will love you. Weekends are a bit more relaxed for Ryan. He enjoys watching Disney movies, and listening to music and will probably want to go out to Old Spaghetti Factory or Chili's. We ask for light housekeeping in the main areas that Ryan uses. Kitchen, bathroom, family room, and his laundry. This includes vacuuming and mopping. You can also get him to help you with all of these tasks- we would prefer it! We are looking for someone that will make forming a connection and friendship with him a priority. Someone who will care about him as a person and respect that even though he has disabilities he has a need for connection and interaction just like all of us. The ideal person should have experience with people on the Autism Spectrum or worked with people with disabilities before. We would love it if you would engage him. Instead of just making him dinner-- do it together. Help him get involved in his own life no matter how small. The purpose of this position is for him to feel like he has a friend to do things with and talk to while also helping keep him safe.
