Looking for a dependable person to help with farm/animal chores during times when we have to be away. There are several dates in September and October including Labor Day weekend. Future travel and family holidays can make this a solid long term situation for the right person. We are located between Arcata and Blue Lake. We would really like to find just the right person who loves animals, likes to work, understands the importance of paying attention to details and is willing to communicate openly to get things just right. This is not a show farm and it doesn’t have to be pretty but as small details when caring for animals can lead to tragic outcomes we need to get it right. We are happy to train you and work with you for several days before you are asked to work on your own. We believe this is important work and will invest our time and energy along with you. We have 20+ sheep, 30+ chickens, 3 mini donkeys and some cattle, 2 dogs, as well as a few domestic animals on the farm. Jobs would be feeding/watering twice a day, letting chickens and sheep out in the morning and putting them up at dusk. These tasks can be accomplished in about 1.5 to 2 hours divided between morning and night. There may also be other opportunities as time goes on to help with grooming, cleaning animal pens and the general “fun” of farm life.
