I discovered that the recycling dumpster on Johnson behind the Dept of Education is filled with childrens books, including hardback vintage classics. To me this is a crime against humanity, especially since the little free library around the corner had ZERO childrens books (they are in demand here). This is the poorest county in CA and we are throwing out books?! I have taken two trunk-loads, and filled the little free library.
I talked to someone who works there this morning (8/22) and was told there's a room there full of books and I can ask to take and distribute them (otherwise they are considered "trash").
Is anyone willing to help me? I know thrift stores take them and there are plenty of little free libraries in town.
