First Presbyterian Church is seeking a full-time Maintenance Person. The MP supports the mission of First Presbyterian Church by maintaining the church premises and creating an inviting and safe environment for worshippers. This is a full-time/flexible position. The MP is supervised by the Facilities Administrator who coordinates with other staff, church committees/commissions and volunteers to determine the schedule. The schedule will change from day to day based on special meetings, activities or services at the church, but will normally be around 32 hours on Tuesday-Friday (unless otherwise directed). The MP’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: open buildings, turn on lights as needed, set heat or air, conduct basic cleaning activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting as needed or requested, removing trash and recyclables, occasionally cleaning bathrooms, restock soap, towels and toilet paper (following up after cleaning service), mow the grounds on occasion, remove limbs and debris from grounds and make observations of the needs and condition of the church facilities, including issues to be addressed by the cleaning crew, and report to the Facilities Administrator. The person should have knowledge of and skill in cleaning procedures and processes, products and equipment, knowledge of basic building maintenance, ability to perform basic repairs and safely use the tools to do so, and the ability to work independently and be proactive with moderate supervision, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to climb a ladder and lift 25 lbs.
