Description

40+ year veteran player looking to sing and play saucy interpretations of covers or original rock, funk and groove type songs. Head bobbing and foot stomping works for me. I play well with musicians that can leave the interpretation of a song a little open so that we can weave in the special skills of the band's members. Change up a style or tempo? Sing it in a different key? Add some harmonies? Create a new segue to get from one song to the next without pausing? Try completely different instrumentation? I want the songs recognizable, but (for me) they don't need to be exact replicas to work well live. I tend to play melodically and rhythmically in the vein of Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Chris Squire and Micheal League. That sensibility works really well with guitar players that are working without a rhythm guitar player to outline chords/harmony if they take solo spots or drop out completely. I'm available for gigs and rehearsals any day of the week and can usually work up 5 or 6 songs a week. My goal is to work up an initial 45min - 1hr so that some gigging is possible in the near future and then build it out an hour at a time until we can cover a whole night somewhere if needed (40-50 total songs I suspect). Anyway, here are links to some previous recordings (all live takes) to illustrate the interplay I'm talking about: http://bryanmace.com/Audio/Whet_Perfectly_Content.mp3 http://waytoofunkc.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Me-Julio.mp3 http://bryanmace.com/Audio/Damage_Done.mp3 http://bryanmace.com/Audio/21_Can't_Wait_Till_Tomorrow.mp3 http://bryanmace.com/Audio/Clarence_The_Horse_boombox.mp3 Let me know if any of this sounds like "your thing."
